ESPN - Third baseman Mike Lamb and the Minnesota Twins agreed Friday to a $6.6 million, two-year contract with an option for 2010.

Lamb is likely to get a chance to play regularly for the Twins, looking for more offense at third base. Nick Punto played 108 games at third this season and hit only .210 with one home run and 25 RBIs in 472 at-bats.

The 32-year-old Lamb hit .289 with 11 homers and 40 RBIs in 124 games with the Houston Astros this season. He has a career batting average of .281 with 68 homers and 313 RBIs.

Minnesota also signed slick-fielding shortstop Adam Everett on Thursday. He spent his first seven seasons with Houston.

"We're a lot better off than we were a month ago," Twins general manager Bill Smith said. "We're pleased with the guys that we've got." [READ]
