Mets Acquire Reliever Stokes From Tampa Bay

The Journal News - In the process of stockpiling arms to fill the voids in their porous bullpen, the Mets acquired reliever Brian Stokes from Tampa Bay Wednesday.

The Mets surrendered only cash and didn't have to part with any players, indicative that Stokes wasn't high on their radar screen.

Stokes, 28, was added to the Mets' 40-man roster, which currently is at 36.

Stokes appeared in 59 games last season for the Rays, fourth among rookies in the American League. He was 2-7 with a 7.07 ERA, and in 62 1/3 innings he gave up 49 runs on 90 hits and 25 walks. [READ]
