| 19th November, 2007 - 11:55 am | RealGM Staff Report - The Atlanta Braves announced today that they have agreed to terms with left-handed pitcher Tom Glavine on a one-year contract for the 2008 season. Financial terms of the deal were not announced.
A two-time National League Cy Young Award winner (1991 & 1998) and a 10-time N.L. All-Star, Glavine returns to the Braves after pitching the last five seasons for the New York Mets. He owns a 303-199 career record and a 3.51 ERA. Glavine compiled 242 of his wins in a Braves uniform from 1987 to 2002 and helped Atlanta to five World Series appearances in the 1990s. He was named the Most Valuable Player in the 1995 World Series, when the Braves defeated the Cleveland Indians.
“We are absolutely thrilled to bring Tom Glavine back to the Braves,” Braves Executive Vice President and General Manager Frank Wren said. “We’ve had an overwhelmingly positive response from the players on our club, our staff and our fans concerning Tom’s return. Tom is a proven winner and a future Hall of Famer.”
