The Milwaukee Brewers have spoken to representatives for several free agent catchers, including Jason Kendall.

General Manager Doug Melvin says team officials have discussed the potential of signing another catcher with current catcher Johnny Estrada but wouldn't say publicly how such a move might affect Estrada's status as the Brewers' starter.

Estrada was acquired in a trade with Arizona last offseason. He hit .278 with 10 home runs and 54 RBIs last season. But he was a defensive liability, throwing out only six of 79 baserunners last season according to STATS Inc.
