Yanks' Matsui Has Knee Surgery, Should Be Ready For Spring

ESPN - Hideki Matsui had arthroscopic surgery on his right knee Wednesday, and the New York Yankees outfielder is expected to be ready for the start of spring training.

The inside of Matsui's knee was cleaned out at the Hospital for Special Surgery in a procedure performed by Dr. Scott Rodeo.

Matsui batted .285 with 25 home runs and 103 RBIs this season, his fifth with the Yankees since coming over from Japan. Hampered by his ailing knee, he was frequently used as a designated hitter down the stretch while Johnny Damon played left field. [READ]
