The Twins added a veteran bat Tuesday, acquiring outfielder Craig Monroe from the Cubs for a player to be named.

Monroe, 30, struggled offensively this past season, batting just .219 with 12 home runs and 59 RBI in 122 combined games with the Cubs and Tigers.
