First baseman Doug Mientkiewicz was activated from the disabled list.

Sidelined the past month with a sore lower back, Mientkiewicz was hitting .247 with 11 homers and 28 RBI in 74 games when he went on the disabled list Aug. 9 retroactive to Aug. 4.

Mientkiewicz spent three weeks on the DL earlier this season with a strained right hamstring.
