Omar Vizquel, 41, is close to re-signing with the Giants for one year and approximately $5.5 million, according to major-league sources. While Vizquel wanted a two-year deal, his salary will represent a significant increase from the $4 million he earned last season while batting .246 with four homers and 51 RBIs. The signing of Vizquel will give the Giants more time to develop Class A shortstop Manny Burriss, who currently is batting .375 in the Arizona Fall League. |
