The Red Sox and Terry Francona will likely come to terms on a contract extension this winter.

Assuming the sides can come to an agreement, recent managerial signings of Joe Girardi of the Yankees (three years, $2.6 million annual average) and Joe Torre of the Dodgers (three years, $4.33 million) would indicate Francona is due for a healthy raise from his current deal, which expires after next season and is believed to pay him slightly more than $2 million a season. St. Louis Manager Tony La Russa signed a two-year contract extension last month worth $4.25 million a season.
