A "personal matter" for former New York Yankees' third base coach Larry Bowa is holding up a move to join the 2008 Seattle Mariners' staff, The Seattle Times has reported.

Bowa has confirmed in a phone interview with the paper that he has been offered the job but added that he's tending to a private issue "that has nothing to do with baseball" and is the reason he has yet to confirm his place on the Mariners' staff.

"They know what's going on," Bowa told the paper. "I really don't have a time frame on i, but hopefully in the next few days."

Bowa's contract with the Yankees expires at year's end, and with Joe Torre's departure many of the Yankee coaches' futures have been thrown in doubt.
