The St. Louis Cardinals have yet to ask for permission from the Sox to interview assistant general manager Jed Hoyer for their vacant GM job. But the defending World Series champs, who parted ways with Walt Jocketty last week, are believed to have some interest. The Cards already have spoken with Arizona assistant GM Peter Woodfork, who got his start in the Sox? baseball operations department before joining Josh Byrnes with the Diamondbacks. Hoyer interviewed for the Pittsburgh GM job in September that eventually went to fellow New Hampshire native Neal Huntington.
