The Tigers on Tuesday exercised their $13 million contract option on 14-time All-Star catcher Ivan Rodriguez.

The Tigers had a $3 million buyout option on Rodriguez's contract.

But bringing back one of their leaders was an easy choice for the Tigers, who originally signed Rodriguez to a four-year, $40 million contract in February 2004.
