Brewers pitcher Chris Capuano will get a second opinion on his non-throwing shoulder Wednesday and may have surgery Thursday after the team physician determined he had a torn labrum.

The left-hander began the season 5-0 before losing his final 12 decisions to finish 5-12 with a 5.10 ERA that cost him his starting role. The Brewers lost the final 22 games Capuano appeared in, including 18 starts and four relief appearances.

Capuano pitched better in that stretch, allowing four runs in 10 innings. He will see Dr. James Andrews, who repaired a torn meniscus in Johnny Estrada's left knee and removed a bone spur from the catcher's right elbow last week.

If Andrews concurs with the diagnosis by Brewers team physician Dr. William Raasch, Capuano will undergo surgery Thursday and need about four months to recover.
