Bob Sheppard, the Yankees' longtime public address announcer, hopes to have his famous voice back in time for the Yankees' first home game of the postseason on Sunday, his wife told Newsday today. "If everything clears up in time, he certainly is planning to be there," Mary Sheppard said from their Baldwin home. "It's getting stronger." Sheppard, whose voice has been heard over the Yankee Stadium loudspeakers since 1951, missed the final home games of the regular season with laryngitis. |
