A season that has taken a toll on Cliff Floyd like no other in his career might be his last, the Cubs outfielder said Thursday -- especially, believe it or not, if the Cubs do the unthinkable and win the World Series. ''Definitely, that would make it more likely,'' said the Chicago-born Floyd, who returned to his hometown team this season only to struggle with his power all year and endure the unexpected illness and death of his father. ''If we win this, that will definitely be more likely. I could easily not think about it. I could easily go home.'' Retirement was not on his mind when Floyd, 34, returned from a foot injury to sign as a free agent with the Cubs last winter. But his disappointment over his production this season -- albeit, in only 259 at-bats through Wednesday -- and family considerations have made him look differently at retirement.
