Ken Griffey Jr. was never happier to give a bat away. Griffey drove in four runs and hit career homer No. 591, then put the bat aside as a remembrance of the Reds' fifth straight victory, 11-7 over the Marlins on Saturday night. Once the game ended, the bat was in Davey Concepcion's hands. Baseball's first professional team retired the shortstop's No. 13 before the game. Griffey watched from the dugout as the Venezuelan got choked up while thanking his family and former Big Red Machine teammates. |
