The Red Sox on Friday activated pitcher Joel Pineiro from the 15-day disabled list.

The righthanded reliever, who has been on the disabled list retroactive to June 28 with a right ankle sprain, is 1-1 with a 5.04 ERA in 27 appearances with the Red Sox this season.
