Carl Pavano, will need an extra day in Birmingham, Ala., for further tests on his ailing right shoulder.

Brian Cashman said he did not read anything into that, since the orthopedic surgeon who saw Pavano, Dr. James Andrews, had a full schedule.

Cashman has acknowledged that Pavano, who has missed six weeks, could need season-ending surgery.
