The Tigers traded pitcher Roman Colon, recently charged in a locker room scuffle with a Triple-A teammate, to the Royals on Friday for a player to be named.

Colon was charged with felonious assault after a brawl June 12. The right-hander was fighting with a teammate when another Toledo pitcher, Jason Karnuth, tried to break it up. Colon hit Karnuth and broke several bones in his face, according to a police report. Colon later said he had no idea he hit Karnuth.

The Tigers suspended Colon for seven days. The pitcher has spent the entire season on the DL while recovering from offseason neck surgery.
