Although technically a demotion, Homer Bailey's trip to Class AAA Louisville just six starts after making his much-celebrated major-league debut is meant solely to keep him on schedule, general manager Wayne Krivsky said. With eight days before Bailey would make his next start for the Cincinnati Reds following the All-Star break, the team on Sunday optioned him to Louisville, where he'll pitch on Thursday when the Reds open a series against the New York Mets. Bailey's fifth spot in the rotation doesn't come up again until July 16, when the Reds open a three-game series in Atlanta. "He wouldn't be going (to Louisville) if there weren't three days off," Krivsky said. |
