The outfield alignment is back in flux with center fielder Felix Pie in a prolonged slump and benched, and manager Lou Piniella suggested Jacque Jones may get another chance to regain a starting job -- which probably would mean a trip to the minors for Pie for regular at-bats. Jones will get his second start in center in three games tonight at Pittsburgh. In his first start in more than two weeks Thursday, he doubled in his first two at-bats. He's hitting .232 with two homers. ''If Jones swings the bat, he's going to get playing time,'' Piniella said. ''My conversation with him the other day was, 'You can have a real nice second half.' And you know what, he plays center field well, plays it very well.'' |
