The New York Times reports that Pettitte "came close to questioning whether his teammates cared as much about the losing as he did" during post-game comments. "I?m bitter because we?re not playing good baseball,? Pettitte said. "I feel like we?re a better team than we are, and we?re not getting it done. Not only me, but I hope there?s a whole lot of guys in this room that are frustrated and care a whole lot right now." When Pettitte was asked if he was satisfied that other Yankees care as much as he does, he responded as follows: "I hope that everybody else cares as much. I mean, I?m not going around polling everybody. I wear my feelings on my sleeve a little bit on the day I pitch. I only get to play once every five days, and it?s extremely important to me. I think it?s extremely important to everybody else in here. At least, I hope so." |
