Morneau was coughing up blood after suffering an injury to his upper right chest after running into Olivo in the eighth inning. Minnesota manager Ron Gardenhire described the play as a "a scary incident." "He had nowhere to go. He just had to try to go through with him. It wasn't a violent collision but obviously it just hit right in a bad spot, kind of an unprotected place." Morneau was taken by ambulance to hospital where the lung injury was diagnosed and he will remain overnight. |
