The Yankees have talked to the Angels about Shea Hillenbrand, a right-handed hitting first baseman they were interested in this past offseason when he was a free agent.

Hillenbrand's playing time with the Angels has been reduced because of Casey Kotchman's emergence at the plate (.333, eight HRs, 35 RBIs). Even though Kotchman suffered a concussion Saturday, the Angels are still willing to move the 31-year-old Hillenbrand, batting .246 with three homers and 18 RBIs.
