Javier Vazquez didn't have to listen to a replay of Monday's 3-0 loss to Philadelphia to hear what he apparently was doing wrong.

"I got a call from the whole island of Puerto Rico to let me know about it," Vazquez said Tuesday, one day after ESPN analyst and former major-league pitcher Rick Sutcliffe said Vazquez was tipping his pitches.

"I checked the video and there's nothing to it. It's something that people on ESPN try to overanalyze stuff. And I didn't see anything. You can see if you're doing something, like if hitters know if off-speed pitches are coming.

"I pitched six innings, gave up four hits, three home runs. You look at those pitches, they should be hit for home runs. They were pitches over the plate.

"Besides that, I didn't see good pitches being taken as if they know what's coming, so I know there's nothing to it."

This isn't the first time it has been suggested Vazquez was tipping pitches. He made a couple of minor alterations last year.

"We'll look into it, but he wasn't tipping pitches," pitching coach Don Cooper said. "I don't put too much into it."
