Jim Thome faced live pitching for the first time in a month at the Phillies' minor league complex. The first baseman has been on the 15-day disabled list since July 1 with tendinitis in his right elbow. "It's coming along great," said Thome, who also spent time on the DL in May for back problems. "And my back has been great. We're coming along pretty good there." Thome, who sprayed hits to all fields and took grounders at first base, does not know when he will start a rehab assignment. "We're just kind of taking it day to day," he said.
