The White Sox on Friday placed outfielder Darin Erstad on the 15-day disabled list with a sprained left ankle and recalled outfielder Jerry Owens from Class AAA Charlotte.

Erstad suffered the injury in the sixth inning of a 2-0 loss to the Blue Jays on Thursday. On a 2-1 count, Erstad swung and missed on a pitch from Blue Jays ace Roy Halladay, crumpling to the ground and grimacing in pain.
