The Phillies recalled left-hander Fabio Castro from Triple-A Ottawa to replace the struggling Matt Smith.

Castro was 2-0 with a 3.24 ERA in six appearances for Ottawa. Smith, acquired in the trade that sent Bobby Abreu to the Yankees last July, was sent to Ottawa to regain his control.
