The Padres and center fielder Mike Cameron have deferred talks on a contract extension until after the season. Cameron's agent, Mike Nicotera, said yesterday morning that negotiations probably won't resume until Cameron becomes eligible for free agency in November.

?We're done for now,? Nicotera said. ?Negotiations won't resume during the season. We got to a point where we agreed to disagree. There was no acrimony.?

Cameron, 34, is seeking a three-year extension. In the offseason, the Padres picked up Cameron's $7 million option for 2007, which General Manager Kevin Towers described as a bargain.
