The new advertising on the utility doors amid the brown ivy didn't cause much of a stir.

''It's definitely a change. I'm used to everything at Wrigley being the same,'' said Floyd, a Chicago native and longtime Cubs fan. ''It's all right. We all know where we're at in this world. It's a business.''

Jason Marquis, the former St. Louis Cardinals pitcher who starts today for the Cubs, said it looked strange to see ads on the walls but suggested that the white-on-dark-green scheme blended well with the backdrop of the ballpark.

''As long as the fans don't mind it and they don't think it takes away from Wrigley, I don't think there's anything wrong with it,'' Marquis said. ''From a players' perspective, we're in here to play the game and to win.''

That's why third baseman Aramis Ramirez shrugged off the new ads.

''Everywhere we go, they got signs on the wall,'' he said. ''This is the only place that didn't have it. It's not a big deal. It is a big deal for the city because they never had that before.

''But I don't think it's a bad thing. They pay the players a lot of money. They can get some money back, too.''
