Jim Hendry said Kerry Wood has a strain in his right triceps, the result of overstriding on the mound in his last appearance.

Wood is on the comeback from a nonsurgical rehab of a minor tear in his right rotator cuff. In 2005, Wood had surgery on his right shoulder. He underwent reconstructive elbow surgery in 1999.

Hendry said Wood will not see a doctor and that trainer Mark O?Neal with work with him.

?Woody, the other day in the game ? the hole in the mound, he said he was kind of extending past it to avoid it,? Hendry said. ?He had a little strain in his triceps, the posterior on the bottom, not where he was cut on. So we?ll just give it a couple of days and let Mark work with him. But I?m not anticipating any long-term difficulty. He?s going to skip the next couple days throwing, for sure.?
