Omar Vizquel was hoping for a contract extension before the regular season began, but talks have been slow. His agent, Adam Katz, has spoken with the front office without making much progress. "It didn't go too far," said Vizquel, who wants to play two more years after this one. "I want to get it done. I would like to be here. Hopefully, everything is there to make it happen." Vizquel is entering the final year of his three-year contract. "Comparing my contract to anyone else's is kind of hard. You don't see many 40-year-old shortstops," Vizquel said. "I obviously don't feel like a 40-year-old. I guess they have questions: Can he still play? Can he still move?" |
