Mike Cameron, who can become a free agent in November, has told the Padres he wants to remain with them beyond this season.

General Manager Kevin Towers said he recently met with Cameron's agent and that the two will further explore terms for a multiyear contract.

?Do I want to stay? Yeah,? said Cameron, who last year batted .268 with 22 home runs and 83 RBI, played 141 games and won his third Gold Glove. ?I've already expressed that to them. But it's going to be up to them to make that decision. It's in their hands.?
