The Rockies and right-handed pitcher Brian Lawrence are putting the finishing touches on a one-year deal with a club option.

A baseball source said weekend talks had produced the framework of a deal, as the Rockies, considered the leaders all long in bidding for Lawrence's services, staved off a bid from the Mariners.
