Jim Edmonds underwent his second surgery this offseason Tuesday, a procedure on his left foot.

Still one of the game's best defensive center fielder's, the 36-year-old Edmonds signed a two-year contract extension with the defending-champion Cardinals on November 10. He underwent arthroscopic surgery on his balky right shoulder five days later.

This time, Edmonds had surgery to correct a "hammer toe" condition of the second toe on his left foot. The procedure was done by Dr. Bob Anderson in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Edmonds is expected to make a complete recovery by Opening Day.
