The White Sox avoided arbitration with Scott Podsednik on Friday, agreeing to a one-year, $2.9 million contract with the outfielder.

The 30-year-old Podsednik batted .261 with three home runs, 45 RBI and 40 stolen bases in 139 games with the White Sox last season.
