According to industry sources, the Yankees have been inundated with inquiries about Gary Sheffield. And while a trade isn't imminent there are several serious proposals in the air.

"The belief is that if you give them real value, a high-end prospect, they might be willing to pay some of his money," a source said. "The better the body, the more they might pay."
