The New York Yankees were eliminated from the postseason race with Wednesday's 9-5 loss to the Baltimore Orioles.

"It's tough. It's what you play for. It's a rough feeling," Derek Jeter said.

Jeter now has just four games remaining in his career, including Thursday's home finale.

The Yankees missed the playoffs in consecutive years for the first time since 1992-93. The only other time New York did not play in the postseason during Jeter's 20-season career was in 2008.

Thursday night's game will mark the first time Jeter has played at Yankee Stadium in a meaningless game. He missed the end of last season due to injury as the Yankees stumbled to the finish line.

"For the guys that are coming back and the team that plays it's a feeling you shouldn't like and you shouldn't want to get used to," Jeter said.
