The New York Mets will retain general manager Sandy Alderson.
Not only will they pick up the 2015 option on his contract, but they are also making progress toward announcing a multiyear extension, according to a source.
Alderson, who was hired on Oct. 29, 2010, is completing the final guaranteed season of an original four-year deal.
Terry Collins is expected to remain the club's manager as well.
