In a radio interview with KRLD-FM/105.3 in Dallas, Jon Daniels admitted that it is unlikely Yu Darvish will pitch for the Texas Rangers again this season.

Darvish was placed on the disabled list with right elbow inflammation on August 13.

The Rangers are going to be very careful with Darvish's health.

"With everything else we've dealt with and how important he is, we've said once he's completely asymptomatic and the doctor clears him, we'd get another scan and then if everything is clear, we'd get him back pitching," Daniels said. "By the calendar and how close to the end of the season we are, I don't know that it will allow him to pitch again.

"I think it's critical going into next year for us to put all these injury issues and concerns behind us as we possibly can," Daniels added. "It doesn't seem to make a whole lot of sense to me to take a risk when the MRI clearly  shows there is something going on in there."

The right-hander has a 3.06 ERA, 1.261 WHIP and 182 strikeouts in 144.1 innings this season.
