The 2014 Little League World Series opened play on Thursday with the Jackie Robinson West team from Chicago beating the team from Lynwood, Washington.

The little league game earned better telelvision ratings than both the Chicago Cubs and Chicago White Sox have this season.

According to the Chicago Tribune, the game drew a 2.4 rating in Chicago on ESPN, which means it was on in approximately 70,000 homes.

The Cubs were averaging a 1.5 rating on Comcast SportsNet, while the Sox were at 1.4.
