The New York Mets are trying to get Matt Harvey to "back off a bit" in his recovery from Tommy John surgery, but he remains adamant about trying to pitch this season.

The right-hander threw a 27-pitch bullpen session in Port St. Lucie, Florida on Wednesday.

Terry Collins said he wants to "see a hump in the throws," expressing frustration that Harvey still seems to be going full steam.

"I threw a bullpen today and I didn't miss a spot," Harvey said Wednesday evening during an interview on ESPN New York 98.7. "I felt like I was easily throwing into the low to mid 90s, with pretty much no effort.

"I know there's a process, but as a competitor I want to get out there as soon as possible."
