Troy Tulowitzki will have season-ending hip surgery on Friday, according to the Colorado Rockies.

Tulowitzki has a torn labrum in his left hip. He will be operated on in Vail, Colorado.

The shortstop's .340 batting average is the highest in the Major Leagues.

Tulowitzki was placed on the 15-day disabled list July 22, three days after he was hurt running out a grounder at Pittsburgh.

The Rockies will also reportedly be without Carlos Gonzalez (left knee) for the remainder of the season.
