Michael Wacha, out since mid-June with a stress reaction in his right shoulder, has been cleared to begin a throwing program for the Cardinals, according to an ESPN.com report. 

The right-hander had an MRI on his shoulder Monday, according to GM John Mozeliak. The results left the Cardinals training staff confident that Wacha could start throwing again.
