The San Francisco Giants stood pat at the deadline, failing to address the second basemen he was looking to acquire.

"I've done this a long time, and I feel as good about not getting something done as any year we've done something," Brian Sabean said.

"There were a lot of bad deals to be made, and we weren't going to do that."

The Giants were reportedly interested in Ben Zobrist and Gordon Beckham.

"We just couldn't execute the deals based on what the ask was," Sabean said. "A lot of that had to do with too many buyers in the market, and we would do the same thing if we were on the other side of the fence. (Teams) held out to the very end to get what we weren't willing to give up."
