Troy Tulowitzki, who is currently on the disabled list, caused a stir on Sunday afternoon when he sat nine rows behind home plate at Yankee Stadium.

Tulowitzki, who has admitted that he idolizes Derek Jeter, watched the Toronto Blue Jays beat the New York Yankees while his Colorado Rockies hosted the Pittsburgh Pirates.

The shortstop later told the Denver Post that his motives were pure, that he'd been in the Philadelphia area visiting a surgeon, William Meyers, for an evaluation of his left hip-flexor strain.

"It's a short drive from Philly," Tulowitzki said. "I'm with my family. I wanted to see Jeter play one more time."

The Yankees will need a new shortstop when Jeter retires after this season and Tulowitzki has been linked to New York via trade.
