The Houston Astros have placed George Springer on the disabled list with a strained left quadriceps.

Houston originally felt the issue was with the rookie's right leg. Springer said he hurt his right knee and quad when he slammed into the wall after making a catch in Texas on July 9, but the injury to his left quad has been lingering for a couple of weeks and is more of a concern.

"It's just kind of in my best interest now to take some time and to rest and get back out there as soon as I can," Springer said.

He is hitting .231/.336/.468 with 20 home runs and 51 RBIs in 78 games.
