After a four-hit game on Thursday, Arismendy Alcantara has earned himself more time with the Chicago Cubs.

Originally scheduled for a two-day stay while Darwin Barney took paternity leave, Alcantara has been told he'll stick in the Major Leagues through the All-Star break and perhaps beyond.

The Cubs won't need a fifth starting pitcher until July 22 and don't have to carry one until then.
