Omar Minaya and the Mets have informally granted the Giants and Rangers permission to talk to Manny Acta, 37, about their managerial jobs before the Mets conclude their season, which could increase his chances of landing the job in San Francisco.

"I have told general managers they can interview (him) even as we go through this run or between series. It's fine," Minaya said. "What I do not want is an interview the day of a game."

Acta, who has minor-league managing experience and managed the Dominican Republic in the World Baseball Classic, is one of several Giants candidates.

Acta currently resides in the apartment building that Cory Lidle's plane crashed into last week in Manhattan.
