The Nationals are not close to naming Joe Girardi as their new manager, according to sources in Chicago.

The Chicago Sun-Times reported on Saturday that the Nationals are expected to offer Girardi a contract this weekend, but several sources said the report is not true.

In fact, there seems to be an indication that the Nationals are still interviewing candidates. Tony Pena and Dusty Baker told MLB.com that general manager Jim Bowden has not informed them they are out of the running. Both Baker and Pena, who have managerial experience, interviewed for the Nationals job this week.
